6 Children dead as Lohanna High School Wall Collapses

The heavy rains in Uganda and Kampala’s central region have caused quite a number of accidents and disasters resulting into the loss of life in areas such as Bududa District in eastern Uganda and now Lohana High School which is in located in the heart of the capital of Kampala’s central Business district.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy police spokesperson said in an official statement that the heavy downpour begun at 2 am today in the morning and led to the unfortunate demise of 6 out of the 8 street children that were sleeping next to the Lohana High school wall fence that collapsed on them due to the heavy rain. Two of the children that survived the fatal collapse of the wall are gravely injured and still in critical condition receiving medical treatment at Mulago Hospital.

Kasirye John a survivor from the scene narrated with tears flowing down his cheeks how he lost some of his friends named Kennedy ,Odongo and Ryan whom he had left the slums of Kisenyi with .

“We had come to sleep. We laid sacks to sleep on. I tried to grab their sacks but they wanted to beat me and I went to Han’s Pub where I picked a box and slept. I was told by women that my colleagues had been killed by the wall,” John said
