Burna Boy wins international act 2019 BET awards

Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy won this year’s international act in the just concluded Black Entertainmen Television Awards. The On the Low hit maker was in the highly contested group that included the likes of Ghanaian sensation Mr.Eazi, Nigerian Teni Makanaki among others. Burns Boy’s mother Bose Ogulu who also doubles as his manager received the award and in her acceptance speech said that ‘remember you were African before you became anything else’.Well again this year, East Africa was missing an action as neither country had a musician representing. The West Africans have dominated this category ever since Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo brought it home in 2014.Nevertheless, we had a consolation in Labs Haloha who represented in the fashion arena.
