Last Saturday was a show of the elite as music fans were treated to a classy show as Golden Band singer Catherine Kusasira was launching her ‘Tears of a woman concert’ at the Serena Kampala Hotels’ Victoria Hall.
The show which was thought that that would be a flop due to political reasons, however, was sold out and Uganda’s 001 H.E Yoweri Museveni was the guest of honor.
Kusasira’s bandmates such as Mesach Ssemakula, Stacia Mayanja were some of the acts that curtain raised for the lady of the night. However, it was bandmate Ronald Mayinja’s performance that left musicians Bebecool who was seated next to the president, other big wigs and Kusasira furious.
Mayinja has always been known to be an opposition ally going by his songs and he did not hide it yesterday when he stepped on stage to curtain raise for Catherine. The band that was playing played a song but the third year finalist pursuing a bachelor’s in social sciences at Makerere University ended up singing his song ‘ebizibu’ that posses political nuances in it.
This did not go unseen by the President who talked about Mayinja’s song in his speech. Gagamel chief Bebecool was also furious about Mayinjas behavior as he was heard ranting that the ‘tuli ku bunkeke’ singer’s behavior was uncalled for. Catherine Kusasira was also angry with her fellow band mate’s behavior as she said that song was rejected right away the moment Mayinja put it up on the list of songs he wanted to sing.
