Samia Suluhu Hassan sworn in as the first female President of Tanzania an East African country

Following the untimely demise of Tanzanian President H.E John Pombe Magufuli to cardiac arrest, the country is has sworn in H.E Samia Suluhu Hassan as the new president.

Samia who has been the vice president to the fallen president become the first female president to ever rule any country from the 6 countries that make up the East African community.

Samia who was also the first female vice president of Tanzania after being elected alongside President Magufuli in 2015 on the CCM ticket was born in 1960 on the 27th of January.

Before her tenure as vice President, she served as the member of parliament for Makunduchi constituency from 2010 to 2015 and at the same time served as the Minister of state in the Vice President’s office for Union affairs from 2010-2015.

Although Tanzania is still mourning the death of their great leader President John Magufuli there is a new light shinning at the end of the tunnel in having the First female president in Tanzania’s history. The world will be keenly watching how the new and first female president in East Africa will deal with the different matters concerning the country.
