Jackie Chandiru is well known for being in one of the successful singing groups in Uganda called “Blu3”.
The musician was seen on NTV Mwasuze Mutya Show today having an interview and she revealed that she was out of the country for treatment.
She revealed her silence in the music industry that started in 2019 when she was going through a severe depression due to an accident she had.
According to Jackie Chandiru, she was going through a lot after she got in an accident that damaged her back. She said she got so depressed and stressed, something that made her use drugs.
She was forcefully taken to a rehabilitation centre to enable her to fight her addiction but she escaped all in vain.
Chandiru was later taken to Nairobi by someone that loved her for who she is and there she eventually started on her healing journey from addiction.
“My addiction started with a back problem. I was given an option between a drug and surgery. The surgery was 50/50, so I chose the drug. I was warned about its addictive nature but I decided to use it,” she narrated.
“Depression can kill. In Uganda, people do not understand that, but it is true. Here people think it is a foreign problem, but depression can make you do dangerous things,” she added.
Wishing you all the best Jackie!
