The Ugandan entertainment industry has lost a true gem today. Evelyn Lagu, a talented actress loved by many, has sadly passed away after bravely fighting an illness. Her contributions to the industry will be dearly missed and her legacy will forever live on.
She’s been battling with a kidney complication for years and the body couldn’t handle it anymore hence passing on at her home located in Nabugabo.
Furthermore, the kidney complication had been with her for years and she had to travel to Turkey for a kidney transplant in June 2021.
However, due to the delicacy of her health, Lagu was advised by the doctor not to go on with the transplant because the condition couldn’t support the condition hence living on medication until her last breath.
Lagu was also preparing a charity concert dubbed “Evelyn Love Live in Charity concert” on October 28 2023 but didn’t live to do it.
Several celebrities including Mesach Semakula, Eddy Kenzo, Don Zella, Catherine Kusasira, Bettina Namukasa, Vivian Tendo, Spice Diana, Rebecca Alice Jjingo, and Naila Ali among others have already taken to their social media accounts to express their condolences to the deceased’s family.
Her burial details have not yet been shared but will be shared as soon as they are posted by the family and loved ones.
She was a singer and a movie actress born in Kalungu, Masaka, on June 1, 1982. She went to Aga Khan, Mityana SS, Pride SS Mityana and finally, St. Peter’s SS Busubizi, where she completed her A’level. Lagu was one of the finest singers and actresses on the local scene.
